Investigating Maths

Last week amongst all the other things we were doing we managed to squeeze in some maths investigations centred around 2d and 3d shapes.  We tried to decide which 3d shapes were the best for building a strong building that wouldn't fall down. We tried different ways of sorting 2 d shapes using venn diagrams and we also used matchsticks to make a different pattern of 5 squares each time -- this was really tricky but we got used to keep trying and by the end we got really good at trying different patterns!
