Super Sunny Springhead

We have had such a fantastic day at Springhead! We have used our senses in so many ways..... it has been a day of great exploring.

Boat Building. We had a mission to build a boat with our friends.

The boats were kept until the end of the day when we had a race to find out which boat was the best at transporting an egg down the river!

Sensory Springhead. Mrs Tatman took us on a tour using all of our senses.

There was so much to see!

Lots to touch and describe.

We could hear the leaves blowing in the wind and the water rushing past us.

Of course, we could hear voices and laughter too!

We could smell moss, wet leaves and even a very special sweet, sugary smell. Can you remember which tree that came from?

We were lucky enough to be able to taste the spring water too! It was cool, fresh and delicious.

Mrs Tatman was impressed with the adjectives so many people came up with to describe what they heard, saw, tasted, touched and smelt. Well done!

Nature Detectives -

Mrs Peterson took us exploring! We hunted for bugs and found slugs, grasshoppers and lots of spiders too.  We learnt the word camouflage because many of the bugs were so good at hiding because they looked exactly the same colour as the plant or wood they were living on.

We admired all the beautiful flowers that were everywhere,

We thought of great adjectives to describe the swans and ducks that swam by.

The magnifying glasses were a great hit as they made EVERYTHING LOOK ENORMOUS!

Pond Dipping -- or rather stream dipping in the beautiful clear water stream that runs from the spring at the top of the garden.  With Mr Pyrke in his waders and Mrs Hall watching carefully - fish were seen,  and lots of wellie boots were filled with water! Nets were used to great effect to see what could be found in the water.

Who won?
The boat race was brilliant!
Everyone was excited to see whose boat would carry the egg to the finish line.

Each winning boat went back for a second chance.
The two final teams raced their soggy boats in final!

Ben and Abigail were the prize winners, but everyone had fun and there were some really excellent boat designs.
