Fabulous Christmas Concert Everyone!

Father Christmas Fun!

We enjoyed three very different activities involving the man in the red suit today!

We had to design a new suit for Santa with lots of helpful features, for example mince pie holder, and even special toilet compartments!

There was also a Maths task where we had to answer calculations, to climb the chimney.

There was also a chance to work with a partner for ten minutes ONLY to draw and colour passengers on the Santa Express!

Mrs Tatman was impressed with our listening skills and the way we shared. It was all about talking to our partners and making decisions together.

Super stuff!

A message from Rocky, Rudy, Sooty and Sidney

Hi Year 2!
Thank you again for looking after us while we were visiting Year 2, we had such a great time and found out all about life in Shaftesbury. We have loved reading all of your letters and cards on our LONG journey home.  The Arctic Airlines aeroplane picked us up and at the moment we are still flying.  This is the view we can see out of the window:
We hope we will see you all again next year,
Lots of love, Rocky, Rudy, Sooty and Sidney xx

Goodbye Arctic Adventurers!

We sent them off on their sleigh today armed with letters, cards and reindeer food!
We will miss you!

Space Launch!

We were all so excited to watch Tim Peake launch into space this morning!  We had the live footage playing on our whiteboards in our classes.  The launch is even more exciting for us as on board there are some special seeds which will be delivered to our school when they return to Earth next year!
If you would like to look at the Newsround pages about the launch click here

Santa Slime!

In between dress rehearsals, we had some Science fun making Santa Slime. Although it didn't quite turn out the watpy it was supposed to- it looked more like a brain than something made by a sparkly elf!
We thought of loads of great adjectives to describe how it felt, although 'gross' was the most popular!

We had better do some cleaning before we leave!

There's always time to help with some cleaning though we are not sure Rudy really knows how to use the mop!

Weekend fun!

When our visitors have a whole weekend to explore the school there is no end of fun to have. Where do you think they found the pirate ship?

Continuing with Co-ordinates

We have explored grid references and compass directions as part of our co-ordinates work this week.

We had fun marking our own work too!

You could use some squared paper at home to draw your own grid, and create a co-ordinates activity to share.

Now . . . where shall we go next?

So after their midnight feast on Wednesday night our little  adventurers have decided to have a more peaceful night. They did enjoy meeting a new friend too  . . .

Deck the Hall!

Clever Co-ordinates

We have been exploring grid references and co-ordinates in Maths today.

Where are those naughty Arctic Adventurers now?

Can you guess where they might have spent the evening? I do hope they haven't got up to too much mischief. . .  it looks like they may have had a midnght feast!

Helga the Dragon

Some fantastic writing in Year 2 this morning. Helga the dragon was the favourite pantomime character of lots of us. However, we didn't know much about her- we said she was mysterious and intriguing.
We thought about how she may have become bad. We planned a story on a story board and thought of great nouns, verbs and adjectives we could use.

Then we all wrote Helga's story. There were some really imaginative pieces of work, well done everyone!
