It's not just a tube...

After our visit from Annaliese on Monday, we wrote perfect paragraphs using our imaginations to decide what a tube could be turned into.

Fractions of numbers

Practical exploring to find fractions of numbers. Three quarters was proving a bit tricky!

Parachutes

Today Walnut looked at the contribution Leonardo Da Vinci made to modern life. We did some paired reading about his life and had a go at making his parachute design. It wasn't easy! It was the first ever design for a parachute, long before modern parachutes were even thought about.

Author and Illustrator Visit

Annaliese Stoney, an Author and Illustrator, came to visit us today.
We had a brilliant time getting lost in the world of books, and learning how to illustrate and write a great story.

Below are some pictures of some of the things we got up to!

First Annaliese shared her book 'It's Not Just a Blanket' with us.

Then we got warmed up and ready to draw by doing a squiggle game.

Then, we started thinking about drawing characters.
We used Annaliese's character tool boxes to have a go at drawing our own.

After lunch, we then did a comic strip planning a story. It was in the style of Annaliese's book.
We had to think about our character playing with a box, a stick or a cardboard tube.
What could your imagination make it?
There were some fab ideas.
