This half term's learning

Our topic for this half term is Off We Go!  Here is what we will be doing:

English We will be:   Writing stories about a journey.  Planning our trip to Springhead.  Writing instructions. Reading and writing poetry. Making video guides to our school garden Taking part in daily spelling and grammar activities. Doing regular handwriting practice Taking part in guided reading activities

Maths We will be: Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Practising our maths vocabulary. Beginning to add and subtract two digit numbers. Practising ways of making ten and twenty. Telling the time. Weighing using a labelled scale.

Science We will be: Investigating the habitats at Springhead. Finding out about the plants and animals in our environment. Discovering what makes a habitat suitable for plants and animals.

Art & DT We will be: Colour mixing. Experimenting with different shades. Painting in the style of Seurat. Cooking!

Music We will be: Listening to and responding to music. Singing as part of a group

History We will be: ·       Not this half term.

Geography We will be: Naming the continents and major oceans and locating them on a map. Making maps and plans.

PE We will be: Taking part in team games. Practising multiskills and challenging ourselves to improve each week.

RE We will be: ·         Thinking about how to be kind. ·         Finding out about Harvest.

Computing We will be practising our keyboard skills with a wide range of activities as well as reinforcing our work about keeping safe online.

PSHE We will be: ·       Thinking about how our behaviour can affect others. ·       Drawing up and using our class charters.
