More numberlines

It is still proving quite tricky to work out where a number might go on a blank numberline! Some of us cut up a hundred square to make a REALLY long number line so that we can use these around the classroom to help us with our addition and subtraction.  

Eventually, we want to be using numberlines to count on in bigger numbers than 1 to support our addition and subtraction work..... or to check our answers are correct!

What happened today?

More work on past tense words today!

We split into house teams and had to decide whether a sentence was in the present or past tense.

            

All of the teams made the right choice, so it was a draw! Lots of pasta for the jar!

We followed this up with some activities focussing on past tense verbs.

Some sorting and matching of present and past tense sentences. 

Also, some super writing of silly past tense sentences too.

We will be looking for correctly spelt past tense verbs in your writing now!

Put it in the Past!

We looked today and changing verbs from the present to the past tense.

We are beginning to know what to add to a word, or how to change it. 

Knowing Numberlines

We explored using a numberline in Maths today.

                         

Working out where a number might be on a blank numberline was trickier than we thought!

We used large numberlines to show how they might help us to find the answer to an addition question.

Charlie Crocodile

We were thinking about which numbers were bigger and smaller than each other today and using different words like greater, less, least...  We were using Charlie Crocodile to show us which number was the biggest of a pair.

We were also reminding ourselves about what each digit in a number means.
