Our learning for this half term: Something Silly

English
We will be:
  •             Reading stories by Julia Donaldson
  •            Finding out about the setting of stories.

  • Focusing on the different elements that make up a story
  • Exploring rhyming words and word play to make jokes and riddles
  • Focusing on correct and varied punctuation in a sentence.
  • Changing our library books every Thursday.
  • Continuing weekly guided reading sessions.
  •  Continuing daily phonics practice.
  • Working on our reading and writing targets.
Maths
We will be:
  • Looking at addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and using and applying the different strategies appropriate for the bigger numbers
  • Practising our times tables: 2x, 5x and 10x facts to be recalled automatically
  • Investigating money
  • Learning the units of measurement of capacity
  • Learning 3 D and 2D shapes
  • Problem solving so that the children can use and apply all the concepts they have been learning
  • Working on our Maths targets.
Science
We will be:
  • Investigating different types of materials.
  • Finding out about different states.
  • Conducting our own investigations.

Art & DT
We will be:
  • Looking at work by Kandinsky and Picasso.
  • Creating our own pieces of work in the style of these artists.

Music
  • Responding to the Gruffalo music and creating our own interpretations.


History
Not this half term.
Geography
We will be:
  • Looking at features of urban and rural landscapes
  • Making our own 3d landscape

PE
We will be:
  • Learning new gymnastic skills.
  • Applying our skills to the apparatus.
  • Making sequences of movement.

RE
We will be:
  • Looking at some elements of Islam
  • Looking at the importance of prayer.
Computing
We will be:
  • Practising our keyboard skills with a wide range of activities.
  • Learning to use Scratch
PSHE
We will be:
·       Thinking about our goals and aspirations.
·       Thinking about the barriers to our learning.
