Learning French - Bonjour!

Ash class has been using register time to learn our numbers up to 10, some basic commands like sit down, stand up and shut the door. We also know how to say the fruits that we eat for snack. We are singing songs in French too -- Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and  a Colours song that we play as a game around the classroom.  We will keep adding more vocabulary and some different languages too.

Les couleurs

Refrain:
Bleu, vert, jaune, rouge,
Orange ou blanc.
Tu choisis la couleur.
C'est un jeu amusant.Une citrouille, c'est orange.
Le soleil, c'est jaune.
Refrain
Une pomme, c'est rouge.
Et tes dents, c'est blanc.
Refrain
Un arbre, c'est vert.
Et le ciel, c'est bleu.
Refrain

Bleu - blue, vert - green
jaune - yellow, rouge - red
Orange - orange, blanc - white,
noir - black, rose - pink

Friends

We have been thinking a lot about how to be a good friend in Year 2.

What do we need to build a friendship wall?

We played 'wiggle worms' to help us to remember how to make our friends feel good.

An expedition for explorers!

Steve Backshall set us another challenge today: to find explorer cards hidden around the school.
Then we had to match the pictures of famous explorers with their description.

Which famous explorers can you remember?

Oooo we're excited!

Because next week we are...

"Off on an expedition,
Walnut and Ash are on a little mission,
Lots to see, lots to show,
Come on Year 2, LET'S GO!"

Hmmmm, I wonder what the word expedition means?   Can you find out and let your teachers know?

Sorry Mr Bloom, I might have borrowed your song! I wonder if he has any clues about what an expedition is?

Year 2 get Live N Deadly!

Steve Backshall set us a challenge today...

Watch out for more challenges coming soon!

Pointillism in Year 2

We learnt about pointillism as an Art technique today.

Georges Seurat was an artist, famous for using dots of colour to create an image.

Our pointillism paintings of Springhead are still drying, but have a look at this to get more of an idea of what we have been doing!

A good day was had by all!

A HUUUUUGE thank you to Keeleigh's mum, Livvy's mum, Hattie's mum and Mrs Tatman for giving up their own time to come with us. :)  Thank you also to Mrs Hatcher, Mrs Wetherilt and Mrs Cundick for a fantastic day.  Lots of lovely happy memories to take away.

Springhead - Boat Races!

Springhead- Exploring!

Springhead - Pond Dipping

Everyone had a chance to explore the river ~ it was brilliant fun. We found so many different creatures and quite a few stones! Lots of us caught tiny fish and 'wrigglers'

Team 4 were the winners catching more than 15 fish~but we were all pond dipping experts really! (especially Keeleigh's Mum!)

Soggy socks didn't stop us from having a great time!

We had the chance to look at all of the things our team caught and talk about what we could see

Eddie knew so much about everything that lives in the river!
